BIG LOVE FOR SHOPPING SMALL IN TRURO THIS SUMMER
An exciting new monthly market featuring the best
regional small creative businesses and indie traders.
Cornwall based market and fair organisers Duchy Fairs are delighted to be hosting The Cornwall Shop Small Market, a new monthly destination market showcasing the very best of locally created and curated wares from amazing indie traders and small businesses. With visitors able to peruse and shop from a line up of contemporary craft & design, vintage & salvage finds, home & garden inspo, fashion & lifestyle wares and some artisan food & drink, there is something for everyone.
The Shop Small Market is a monthly event taking place on the third(ish) weekend of every month kicking off on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of June. The Saturday will be market day with an outdoor tented market taking place in the heart of Truro on the Lemon Quay alongside the regular Truro Farmers Market. Then on the Sunday the action will head over to @duchyfairs on instagram for a virtual showcase of the traders.
‘We’re so excited to be hosting The Cornwall Shop Small Market. Our commitment is to spreading big love for shopping small and celebrating the value of buying independent. What do we mean by value? For us it’s primarily about buying original, beautiful, interesting, artisan, small batch and quality products. You have more of an insight into where, what you buy, comes from so it puts you in control of buying locally, ethically and in an environmentally friendly way. You're also supporting a Cornish indie trader or small business, something which you can feel good about and something that is even more valuable in these challenging times.'
Sarah Curley, Co-Founder of Duchy Fairs
Both the market and instagram event are free to visit and Truro BID have sponsored the event and it’s their support that is making the event possible.
‘We’re delighted to be bringing Duchy Fairs to Truro City Centre for the first time and look forward to seeing their great selection of traders at their Cornwall Shop Small Market. The objective of working with Duchy Fairs with their distinctive offer will generate new and additional customer footfall into the city that will potentially benefit many other businesses, including hospitality on the days of the markets.’
Alun Jones, Truro BID Manager
The first Cornwall Shop Small Market will showcase an array of local indie traders and small biz stars. Hannah of Cornish based Until Dawn will be trading at the June Market and shares her excitement at the return of real life events after a tough year for small business owners.
‘I don’t know if I’m more excited to finally be able to meet so many of my Cornish customers, or to shop with the incredible array of other traders at the Market. I can’t wait to bring my ethically sourced, handmade and vintage goods to the city of Truro, one of the busiest areas of our beautiful county. The Cornwall Shop Small Market will be a massive step forward for both shoppers and traders looking to keep it local while enjoying all the amazing shopping opportunities Truro has to offer.’
Hannah Toon, Owner & Designer at Until Dawn
